Let's start here: the average wedding on your Instagram feed is not a real wedding. It's a styled shoot. Most of the time, there's no couple at all — just models, a hired photographer, and a designer who needed new content for their portfolio.

That's what you're comparing your actual wedding to. That's the pressure you're feeling at 2:47 a.m. when you stress-order $300 of craft supplies from Amazon and then argue with your partner about French roses versus garden roses — even though, a week ago, you didn't know either of those existed.

What is a micro wedding, actually?

A micro wedding is a small, intentional wedding — typically 50 guests or fewer — that trades big-production energy for real, present-in-your-body celebration.

At Moonshine, "micro" means 50 guests plus the two of you: a total of 52 people. That's a number we picked on purpose. It's small enough that you can actually look every guest in the eye and say "thank you for being here" without losing your voice. It's big enough to include the people who genuinely matter. It is not a wedding shaped by your auntie's opinions, a wedding industry trend report, or your second cousin's plus-one.

Here's the thing most couples miss: a micro wedding is not a scaled-down traditional wedding. If that's your starting point, you'll spend the whole planning process cutting things and feeling like you're losing. A real micro wedding starts from the opposite direction. How a micro wedding is different from a "small wedding":

Here's where the vocabulary gets slippery.

From there, the rough order of operations is:

1.     Decide the size and the shape. Day-of only? Weekend event? Daytime? Evening?
